I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, your OGS advisor. My name is Jessica Walker and I will be your primary contact person for all visa related questions. Please keep in mind that Patrick and the rest of the Global Programs team will be your primary contact for everything non-visa related to your semester abroad.
On Tuesday, October 11 you should have received an email directly from our office. This email highlights our comprehensive visa instructions. The visa process for France is a two-step process. The first required part is completing Campus France’s online application and mailing in the required materials. This must be done at least 3 weeks before your appointment at the French Consulate, but can (and should) be done as soon as you have your official acceptance letter from OGS. The second part of the process is actually applying for your French Visa at your local Consulate. OGS will offer students the opportunity to participate in Group Processing (when NYU submits the applications on your behalf) for Campus France and the French Visa process (eligibility is based on citizenship and jurisdiction).
We will send you a lot of information quickly so it is vital that you thoroughly read all of the information we provide in the instructions, blogs and via email. If you are in New York City we highly encourage you to attend the Campus France/French Visa Workshop on Monday, October 17.
The deadline to submit Campus France materials to OGS for group processing is October 18. The French Consulate in New York is allowing NYU to submit a limited number of applications on behalf of students based on citizenship (those students will not need to schedule or attend a visa appointment at the consulate). The deadline to submit complete visa applications to OGS for visa group processing is October 25.
You will work with an advisor at OGS to ensure that you are able to arrive at your study abroad site with the appropriate documentation to study. You will receive emails from OGS, but know that I am your primary contact for immigration related questions and you can reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 212-998-5234.
