In the coming days, you will receive an email from site staff at NYU Paris with instructions to complete an Online Global Health & Wellness Orientation.
This mandatory online exercise provides useful information about health and safety resources in Paris. It encourages you to practice self-care, to support your fellow students and the NYU Paris community, and to remain curious about all the things that are different and exciting in France.
It should take you about 45-60 minutes and must be completed by January 20. Please access the orientation by clicking the link in the email you received.
If you have questions about the content please email email@example.com.
Please look for the arrival information that is being EMAILED to your NYU Account from NYU Paris site staff. This email will contain your check-in location and directions on how to get there from the airport in an attachment (addresses are not in the information below).
Spring 2017 NYU Paris Arrival Date: January 23, 2017*
*PLEASE NOTE: If you have received direct confirmation from the NYU Paris staff that you are enrolling in Sciences Po or University of Paris courses , you must arrive on January 19. Most housing assignments have been posted on the housing portal. For the remaining students, housing assignments will be e-mailed on Monday, January 16.
Please print out these directions and pack them in your carry-on! We also encourage you to leave a copy with your parents.
You are responsible for arranging your own transportation for your semester abroad. Please keep in mind you MUST arrive on January 23, 2017 (unless you have received confirmation to arrive on January 19 for Sciences Po or University of Paris orientation), and participate in the mandatory orientation.
What to do Upon Arrival in Paris
Upon your arrival in Paris, you should first go to your assigned residence hall/host family.
All students should then check-in at NYU Paris

This packet is intended to give all students the opportunity to consider their identity during the pre-departure process, even if they weren’t able to attend our in-person events. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me, and we are happy to talk to you or connect you to resources or students.
You must be logged into your NYU account to view the bulletin displayed on the page. Alternatively, you can download the Workshop Resources here.
This is a friendly reminder that all students who will only be taking courses at NYU Paris (not at Sciences Po or the University of Paris) must arrive and check-in on January 23. Unless you have been confirmed before now by the NYU Paris staff that you will be taking outside courses at Sciences PO or the University of Paris, you will not be able to check in to NYU housing prior to this date.
Students who have confirmed with the NYU Paris Academics their intent to take courses at the University of Paris or at Sciences Po must arrive in Paris on January 19th–before the start of the regular NYU Paris semester for a special orientation session on Friday, January 20th. Only these students will be assured access to their Paris housing starting on January 19th.
Students should plan to arrive in order to check-in by 4:00 pm on the day of their arrival (either January 19 or January 23). This means you should arrive at the airport by 2:00 pm. You may want to keep this in mind when you are booking flights; however, a detailed arrival cheat sheet will be provided closer to departure.
When shopping for flights, we encourage you to use NYU’s preferred partner, Egencia, to buy your ticket. Please see the following egencia instructions for info on how to book your flight through Egencia.
After today, December 1, we’ll be emailing all correspondence, including blog updates, to your NYU Email account ONLY. Please make sure you have activated it so you receive important communications such as your ebill and visa instructions!
It’s easy to do: see here for details, including how to set up mail forwarding so messages sent to your NYU Email address also go directly to the email address of your choice.
In order to obtain the student visa to study at NYU Paris (for those who need it) and to be registered at NYU Paris programs (all students) you must register at The University of Paris. This is true for all students, even if you do not intend to take any courses within the Paris university system.
Parisian universities recently informed us that their administrative registration procedure has changed. In order to complete your registration you need to fill out a form online as soon as possible and send a printed version of the document to NYU Paris Academic staff .You will receive instructions and deadlines from the NYU Paris Academics team in your email box very soon, so please check it regularly.
For those who could not attend the in-person orientation, we missed you. There were some great questions and discussions with the Global Peer Mentors. This interactive session covered everything you need to know as you prepare to study away next semester.
While there is no way to replicate that experience, we are providing this version of the NYU Paris Pre-Departure Orientation Spring 2017 presentation for those who could not attend. Please ensure to read through the presentation in its entirety and complete this mandatory quiz to test your knowledge and make sure you know the essential information! You will also hear from me directly about completing the quiz if you need to do so.
Some key points to remember from the orientation:
- On-site orientation is Mandatory! All students must arrive on January 23 and check-in before 4:00 pm.*
- Please note that housing is ONLY available during the dates of the program, January 23 – May 20!*
- All class attendance and course related field trips are mandatory. Do not book personal travel until you have arrived and confirmed your syllabi.
- Bring all the prescription drugs you will need for your entire stay. Make sure you talk to your doctor about getting a prescription for any medication you take regularly for the full 4 months. Do NOT ship medication overseas.
